I'm back with a fun mid-month sketch at Sketch N Scrap . I loved the possibility of using different pattern papers to create the blocks of colour shown on the sketch.
My layout:
I used papers from different 6 x 6 paper pads to create the strips and the tag, a Graphic 45 card, a plain white envelope which I stamped with green dots, and some OLD fibers (remember those ? ) and flowers from my stash.
The journaling, in French, reads:
As I was out walking with Rufus, a lady stepped out of her car to ask if she could say hello to Rufus. Her family had two Cairn terriers growing up. She told me about her dogs. About their faithful and fearless temperament, their reddish coats, the special food her mum used to make for them to help with their allergies. She loved meeting Rufus. She left thanking me for having given her that special moment.
I'm back with a new layout for the Sketch N Scrap October sketch challenge. I really liked the sketch Lori created, and found it would work nicely for the photos I wanted to scrap.
Here's the sketch:
My layout:
I used two photos instead of the one, omitted the little grouping on the top left, and moved the title onto the paper strips.
The tree(s) embellishments are from a Stampin' Up set called " Lovely as a tree". I thought it was perfect for the photos of my husband working in the woods.
The title letters are from my all time favorite stamp set from Hero Arts.
I would like to share a layout I created for the Sketch N Scrap September challenge. Here is the sketch:
My layout:
As you can see, I stayed fairly true to the sketch.
I've had that background paper in my stash for years. I'm so glad I finally got to use it. The fancy leaves are from a Silhouette cut file. The chipboard pieces were bought at out local dollar store. The tag is from Heidi Swapp (also really old).
The journaling is about my old girl, Maggie still wanting to go for walks with me everyday even though her mobility is not what is used to be.
That's it for now. I look forward to playing with next month's sketch.
It's been a while since I last scrapbooked but I wanted to give this month's Scrap our Stash BINGO challenge a go. You can find the link to the challenge here.
I chose the second row: Journaling card, Colour red, Ephemera, Twine, and Layers.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the title, as well as the corners.
My first time creating a layout for the Bash Your Scrapbook Stash challenge on Facebook. BYSS
I entered my layout for the sketch challenge #3.
My take on it.
I flipped the sketch to better suit my photos. The flower takes the place of one of the circles but is still a circular element. It took me a bit of time to figure out where to place my title letters. I wanted the small, circular stamped letters but they didn't look right on the large piece of pp over my photos. I'm happy with the placement of them now. That large metal butterfly has been in my stash forever. So glad I finally got to use it.
It's really difficult to get a good photo of Maggie. As soon as she sees the camera, she tries to hide.
I'm back after a 6 months break from scrapbooking. I've rediscovered my love of sewing and it's been keeping me busy trying out new projects. But, my scrapbooking supplies were calling me back to either put them to use or get rid of them. Truth be told, I'd like to keep going at it a bit longer if I can. Thank goodness for challenges such as this one to give me a bit of motivation.
This month's sketch at Sketch-N-Scrap was perfect for me to scrap four recent photos of my four grand-kids.
I adapted the sketch by placing the banner(s) underneath the circle, which was cut out with my Silhouette. The 3 flower grouping was moved to the top section, and my title was placed on a tag. I've added some embellishments and letter stickers that have been in my stash forever.
I'm back after a bit of a scrapbooking break to share a layout for the March Sketch challenge over at the Scrap-Our-Stash blog.
Here is the fun sketch we get to play along with.
My layout:
I stayed fairly true to the sketch. We were also asked to use washi tape. Thank goodness I do not have a large collection of washi tapes because I struggle to incorporate it on my layouts. I simply used two small pieces to hold down my journaling block.
A while back I gave myself the goal of using at least one stamp and one Silhouette cut file on every one of my layouts. On this layout the journaling Notes is from Stampin' Up, and the arrow and the leaf were cut with my Silhouette. I've also stopped buying scrapbooking supplies so everything on here is old stash.
The photos are of my daughter's new puppy, Lucy. Do you think dogs dream? I'd like to think so.
I am really pleased to have been added to the talented group of ladies on the design team at http://csichallenge.blogspot.com I've been thinking of giving it a go for a while now, and decided to try it out for the 6 months term. Thank you Debbi. ♥
If you haven't played yet, why not give the challenge a try. The rules are simple;
*Use all 5 colours. Neutrals such as black, white, and kraft (tan) are allowed.
*Choose at least 3 items for the Evidence list as your embellishments.
*Choose one (or more) of the prompts from the Testimony list to write your journaling.
It's that easy.
Debbi posts new challenges on the 1st, and on the 15th, of every month.
You'll be challenged and surprised at how beautiful your layouts will turn out.
Ready to play ?
Here's the challenge for the month of June.
I have to admit, when I saw the colours and the Superhero theme I thought, "Oh, oh...". Royal blue has got to be one of my least favorite colours. I had none of it in my stash. A trip to Michael's fixed that. I did, however, know exactly what my layout would be about, and it had nothing to do with superheros.
Here's how I solved the case:
The colours Royal Blue, Turquoise, Bright Buttery Yellow, White, and Primary Red are all there.
From the Evidence list:Stripes, Twine, Starbursts, Stars and tiny Hearts.
I chose the Inspiration Words, Super, Awesome and Wow, as a kickstart to my journaling. Those words clearly represent the way I feel about La La Land.
I would say that the journaling is the most important part of my layout. If you haven't seen La La Land, and plan on seeing it, you might want to skip the journaling as it contains spoilers.
A few up close details:
And there you have it. I enjoyed working on my very first Design Team assignment, and hope you'll find something that inspires you to join us.
I'm leaving you with the movie trailer for this magical movie. Enjoy !
Can you believe November is almost over ! It seems like we've been in this pandemic forever and yet, time still flies by. Hope everyone is keeping sane.
Here's the mid-month sketch:
My layout:
As usual, I veered off a bit from the original sketch and made it my own.
For Career Day at school, Rosalie chose to be a teacher, and Coraline, an artist. I picked elements from both as embellishments; the library card, the flag, and the map pattern on the tag, to represent teaching, and the colour splats for the artist.
The splats, skeleton leaf, and the title letters were cut files from the Silhouette store. The library card is a Stampin'Up stamp.
I have a last minute entry to share for the Sketch - N- Scrap # 211 October challenge.
Here's the sketch:
My layout, using nothing but scraps of paper from previous layouts. (Yeah, me !)
Our pup, Rufus, has certainly grown and changed since we got him back in April. With his ears up straight, his shaggy hair, and his confident stance, he is the perfect little Cairn terrier.
That's it for now. I hope to play along again soon.
Here I am posting a last minute layout for the mid-month sketch at Scrap Our Stash challenge.
The sketch:
My layout:
The challenge not only called for us to follow the sketch but we also had to use wood grain patterned paper and an animal embellishment.
I used a piece of painted wood grain pattern placed behind the photos, as well as a little butterfly with a wood grain pattern. I replaced the paper circle and flower with a Silhouette cut file, added a flower grouping in the upper corner, and the journaling was placed where the title is on the sketch.
The layout is of my daughter's dog, Quincy. She sits in front of us and gives us this look. We wish we knew what exactly she is thinking.
It's late in the month but there's still a few day left to participate in the July Scrap-Our-Stash challenge.
Here's what we had to work on:
I struggled to get a layout done for this one. I wanted to scrapbook but my mojo didn't want to. It took watching quite a few RTS (Record The Story) videos on YouTube to get me back on track.
I ended up choosing the word "HAPPY". Hearts, Alphabet stamp set, Polka-dots, Pattern papers, Yellow.
My grand-daughter, Coraline had been asking her mom to get her hair cut for quite some time. She was really happy when her mom finally said "yes". 👩
I'm back with another fun challenge at Scrap our Stash. This time around we have a recipe to follow.
And here's what I came up with:
5 different pattern papers : background, black with diamond shapes, green stripes, pink floral, and teal/pink floral for the tag. 4 embellishments : flowers, flair, ribbon, epoxy heart. 3 word title : Violet at 8 2 types of alpha : Basic Grey and Creative memories stickers. 1 photo : my grand-daughter Violet
Close-up shots
I've "spiced up" my layout by adding some cut files from the Silhouette shop, a little doggie stamp, coloured and fussy cut, a StampinUp buckle on the ribbon, and two pre-printed phrases on the tag that say - Favorite things - Right now.
I recently did a layout of my grand-daughter, Rosalie at 7. I plan on making similar layouts for my other two grand-children.
Thank you for stopping by, and for any comments you may care to leave.
May's Scrap our Stash challenge - What's my challenge - is a fun Tic-Tac-Toe.
I chose Flowers, Doily, Twine.
My layout:
For the SimonSaysStamp challenge, It's a dog's life, I used (2) sets of stamps. The flower and butterfly set is from Stampin' Up "On Gossamer Wings". I stamped directly onto the background and used crayons to add colour. I also used a Tim Holtz stamp as an accent behind the main photo block. The layout is about my rescue dog, Maggie. She's been with me for about 18 months. She's a senior, age unknown. I don't know anything about her past but, I do know how lucky I am that she is now mine. I want to thank my friend, Anna-Karin for inspiring me to participate in the SimonSaysStamp challenge. She's an amazing stamping/mixed media artist and a designer on the blog. You can also check out her beautiful work on her own blog, Layers of ink . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for stopping by and for any comments you may care to leave. À la prochaine, Until next time, Jacynthe 😊
